I hope you got some practise fishing in during April when there are less boats on the water.
April had some very good days. There is a decent sized spring run in Columbia River so if you can get on a school of salmon heading down it can be a lot of fun.
This time of year its generally best to try and match the small bait by using small spoons. Chinook will bite hutchies too and anchovies can work well too.
Fishing has been decent with some days faster than others.
We have mostly been doing 4 and 6 hour trips as we didn’t plan to be in the water this early.
Small spoons are working best. Both the 3″ Silver Hourde and needlefish hutchies are working well. The splatterback green needle is a good one early to mide season.
