We were kept inside during some of the days but fortunately there were some fish around Food Islets. Its one of the calm water spots that can be a saver when the weather isn’t great offshore.
Green splater back needles were working well from 60-100 feet depending on where you were. There was a long stretch of water where the fish were feeding so you didn’t need to be in the “perfect” spot.
By June 8 we had 5 boats working which is earlier than normal. Many combinations were tried but we spent a good amount of time in protected water.
June 12 the water started to get better and we were able to fish just off the shore. Mara rock has had a few bites. The last couple of years from the LIghthouse to Fraser Rock was good so we will have to see where the new hotspot ends up being.
Mara fishing is dfferent than other spot here but the Chinook seem to be spread out quite well so don’t worry about trolling in a only 1 spot.
Halibut are showing up in decent numbers too when we can get out.
There are some pics below from the past couple weeks.
Good luck out there and tight lines!
