Fishing Report April 14, 2024
We are not always in the water this early but felt the need to go out in honor of former guide Brad Brown who unexpectedly had a stroke.
I took out a new guide for orientation and training along with some of our team and it ended up being some very good fishing.
There have been some beautiful days already.
This time of year you often don’t have to run very far which is great for keeping gas costs down. And make sure you fill up at the Coop gas station if you can help it.
We really do live in one of the most beautiful places in the world. And the fishing is pretty good as well.
We had 4 double hook ups and it was pretty fast action for a while. We hit over 15 Chinook on the Herring aid spoon just up from the Red Can at 100ft on the downrigger. There were a few at 120, but 100 was the hottest. Perfect day for fishing.
There are lots of lingcod around right now. One Saturday we didn’t spend much time fishing Chinook but ot a few and a couple were mid teens. It was a guide fun trip for a few hours. Today we caught as many lingcod as we wanted (10) and then fished a few hours for Chinook.
Good luck out there. I also post on https://www.salmoneye.net/fishing-with-us/fishing-reports.html but will try to give more local tips here.
